FANTASTICALLY FESTIVE FOUNDER’S DAY CELEBRATIONS AT BHAVANS KUWAIT
Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Kuwait (Indian Educational School) celebrated its tenth Founder’s Day in the school hall on Saturday, 03 September, most splendidly.
This year’s founder’s day celebration was truly singular as the renowned educational institution that imparts quality education in Kuwait has turned ten. The tenth year celebrations of IES, witnessed an enormously large audience comprising the parents, the well-wishers, the staff members and the students. The air was agog and abuzz with merriment and exhilaration. The flamboyant festoons all over the premises added much fanfare to the festivities.
The formal function commenced with the arrival of the chief guest, the invitees, the dignitaries and the members of the management. The founder of Bhavans Middle East, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon was given a standing ovation by the audience to mark their admiration and reverence for him. The esteemed array of guests and invitees included Dr. Shafika Al Awadi, the Chairperson and Consultant of the Department of Medical Oncology, Kuwait Cancer Center, the sponsor Mr. Ali Judiyan Al Rashidi, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the founder as well as the chairman of Bhavans Middle East, Madam Sudha Ramachandran, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran, the Director, Bhavans Middle East, Mr. Krishnadas Menon,the Director, Bhavans Kuwait, the Founder Principal of IES and the Principal of Learners Own Academy Mrs. Asha Sharma, the Principals of Indian Schools in Kuwait Dr. Binumon (ICSK), Mrs. Kalyani Mukherjee (KIS), Mrs. Jeyammal Wilson (IIS), and the representatives of Indians in Kuwait, Kuwait Times, Times Kuwait, and Amrita TV.
The brilliant beads of events that strung out in the rosary of the Founder’s Day Program began on a divine note with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran followed by the national anthem of the soil. The minstrels of IES rendered the prayer song soulfully in tune.
The ceremonious lamp was conjointly lit by Dr. Shafika Al Awadi, the Chief Guest, Mr. Ali Judiyan Al Rashidi, the School Owner and Sponsor, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Madam Sudha Ramachandran, and Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran, the Director, Bhavans Middle East.
The invocation dance staged by the dazzling dancers of IES heightened the festive mood with their lithe and graceful dance steps. The bouquets of welcome were then formally extended by the head of the institution Mr. T. Premkumar.
In his directorial address, Mr. Sooraj Ramachandran expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders, the teaching fraternity of IES, and the students for their continued support and earnest endeavors that have helped IES ascend to the glittering glory of today from its humble inception in 2006.
In his address, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the founder and chairman of Bhavans Middle East urged the audience to dream big and then work to their full potential to fulfill their dreams. He reminded them that their dreams would remain the regrets of tomorrow if they failed to materialize them through assiduousness and unwavering determination. He also advised the teachers to exercise caution with their words and deeds as a teacher’s actions or inactions affect posterity.
The highpoint of the evening was indeed the musical dance-drama ‘Dashavatar’ which was conceived by the Principal T.Premkumar revolved around the mystical theme ‘Dashavatar’ from the Indian mythology. The musical ballet directed by Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan, Vice Principal, middle and senior wings, portrayed the evolution of man, and the numinous circles of ‘karma’ and ‘dharma’ that a man is welded with. More than 60 high-spirited performers which included teachers and students partook in the musical dance drama much to the amazement of the onlookers.
The generous donations of the students of IES, sacrificing luxuries on their birthdays, pooled in the form of a bank check for KD 1020 was presented to the Chief Guest , Dr. Shafika Al Awadi, the Chairperson and Consultant of the Department of Medical Oncology, Kuwait Cancer Center. She thanked the efforts of the management and the parent community and in a special way the students of IES for their thoughtful gesture.
The chief guest was honored with a token of reverential gratitude from the IES fraternity by the chairman of the institution. On behalf of the staff of IES the Principal and Vice Principals honoured the chairman and the director of Bhavans Middle East with the traditional ‘golden shawl’ as a mark of respect. The Bhavans family also presented Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the chairman, Bhavans Middle East a memento as a token of their deep reverence and gratitude to the noble visionary. A portrait of the chairman painted by Mr. Mukundan, the Head of the Art Department was also presented to him on behalf of the Bhavans family amid whole-hearted ovation from the onlookers.
In honor of their zealous efforts, the members of the staff were felicitated with mementos and certificates for completing ten years of exemplary service, for regularity in attendance and for reaching the milestone of completing five fruitful years in IES. The class coordinators as well as the teachers who made the school proud by preparing and producing toppers in Kuwait and GCC were awarded certificates of appreciation for their dynamism and sincerity.
Mr. Biju John, a supportive parent of Bhavans family, expressed his genuine thoughts, proudly reflecting his memorable journey with Bhavan. Sharing his views, his son as well as the proud student of IES, Samuel John of Grade 9 spoke volumes on his accomplishments attained as a Bhavanite, a challenging task impossible to achieve without the guidance and support of the management and the teaching fraternity. Mrs. Ramila Miranda, one of the few teachers who has the rare achievement of being instrumental in the progress of the institution as a pedagogue, for a decade, spoke about her momentous journey with Bhavans Kuwait.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the coordinator of the event Mrs. Meenakshi Nayyar, the Head of the Department, Social Studies. The emcees for the day were Mrs. Trina (Department of French) and Miss Angela. (Department of English)
The events of the eventful evening came to an end with the singing of the Indian National Anthem. A sumptuously delectable dinner in honor of the guests, the invitees, the parents, the teachers and their spouses was hosted by the school management on the school premises.
