IES celebrated its 8th Annual Athletic Meet and Drill Display as an epoch making, grand physical fiesta at Kaifan Stadium, Kuwait on 26th November 2016 with the theme ‘We are United’.
The events of the momentous day began with the hoisting of the national flag of Kuwait. The Chief Guest, Captain Hussain Ali Ali Musallam joined by Mr. N. K. Ramachandran Menon, the chairman, Bhavans Middle, Mr. T. Premkumar and Mr. Mahesh Iyer, the principals of Bhavans Kuwait, Mr. Suresh V Balakrishnan, the senior vice principal (Middle and Senior Wings), and Mr. Murugaiyan Subbarayalu, HoD, P.Ed, hoisted the flag as a mark of reverence to the state of Kuwait and it was followed by the National Anthem of Kuwait and the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran. Following that, the BSS (Bhavan’s Service Scheme) cadets led the march past followed by the marching in of the supreme council members and the four houses of the school; Satya, Seva, Tapas and Sanskriti led by the respective house captains and vice captains.
The Drill Display demonstrated the younger children’s enthusiastic exuberance which delighted the ecstatic crowd. The amazing adroitness and exactitude of the young children fetched rounds of rolling applause from the gallery. The displays such as Free Hands Display, Yoga Display, African Display, Robotics, Ribbon Dance, Human Pyramid, Olympic Rings and Flag March – all manifesting unity and peace, enthralled the spectators. The relay events and various competitions for parents and teachers followed the drill displays. The winners of the various interschool and national level sports contests and athletic meets were bestowed prizes, trophies and plaques by the chief guest as well as other dignitaries. Satya House won the overall championship. The second place was secured by Sanskriti House and the third place was bagged by Tapas House. Many white pigeons symbolizing world peace were released by the chairman, the principals, the vice principals along with the members of the Physical Education Department to vow their determination to safeguard global peace and harmony. The program was wound up with the Indian National Anthem.
