Dear All,

Congratulations to all those smart spellers who are qualified for the knockout level of Bhavan GCC Spell Bee. The contest is getting tougher. Prepare a game plan to prove yourself the best. Fix your hard spot, and work on that to ensure your success. Please keep in mind the following points in this connection.

Bhavan GCC Spell Bee National Level Results

KNOCKOUT ROUND

  1. The knockout will be an onstage event. Escorting teachers and the parents of participating students will be the audience.
  1. There will be two rounds of questions, the first being a dictation round. In the dictation round every contestant has to face 3 questions. This is an interactive round. Candidates can ask questions about the meaning, the alternative pronunciation and the origin of the target words. Each correct answer will fetch 5 points. There is no negative marking.  End of this round, only the best 20 will get qualified for the next round, and that is a transcription round. (If the total number of candidates in one category is less than 40, the 50% of the total number will be declared eligible for the next round, and not 20)
  1. The second round is based on transcription. It is a visual round. There will be a total of 3 questions for each eligible candidate in this round. This is not an interactive round. The transcription of the word will be displayed on a monitor in front of the candidate, and he/she has to spell the corresponding word. Each correct answer will fetch 5 points. There is no negative marking.
  1. The best one candidate in each category will be declared eligible for the Championship. In case there is a tie, a written dictation round will break the tie. At the end of every question in this round, the answer will be verified, and those who give wrong spelling will be eliminated from the contest then and there. All those who entered the tie breaker will be honoured with a memento and a participation certificate.
