The 71st anniversary of Indian independence was celebrated religiously with fervor and enthusiasm. After the prestigious flag hoisting ceremony the principal, Mr. T. Premkumar read out the President of India, Mr. Ram Nath Kovind’s speech delivered on the eve of India’s independence, with the message that every citizen of India who does his or her duty sincerely, fulfills a personal and professional obligation and keeps to a given word is, at a fundamental level, upholding the principles of our freedom struggle. At the end, the principal expressed his concern for the flood-victims in Kerala and urged everyone to remember them specially in their prayers. The celebration then proceeded on a lighter note. A few patriotic songs and a thought-provoking skit staged by the teachers added fuel to the ignited souls. The event concluded on a sweeter note with the distribution of sweets to celebrate the spirit of freedom and commemorate another glorious year of India’s independence.
