The Grand Finale of the Second Edition of Bhavans International Spell Bee concluded in a red carpet mega event in Indian Educational School on 08 February 2020. The contest happened in six different centres simultaneously through video conferencing: Kuwait, India, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Ajman and Bahrain. The two host centres were Indian Education School, Kuwait and Bhavans GVM, Hinganghat, India. The chief guests, Ms. Claire Hayden, CEO, LivinQ8 and Shri Basant Kumar Mohota, Chairman, Hinganghat Kendra, graced the occasion in Kuwait and India respectively. Mr. Suresh V. Balakrishnan, Vice Principal, PIES Abu Dhabi and Ms. Jaemi Byju, Vice Principal, Middle Wing IES were the chief pronouncers of the day in India and Kuwait respectively. Ms. Sumaiya Asif Sayad, former spell bee champion, felicitated the event and motivated the spellers. Ms. Lalitha Premkumar, Vice Principal, Kindergarten and Primary Win, IES, briefed on the significance of Bhavans Spell Bee. A musical performance by the budding talents lightened the air of anticipation. After three hours of rigorous and challenging rounds, the spellers proved their mettle. Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Education School, Kuwait declared the results of the contest. The ‘Spell bees’ who were the champions of the day took home $1500, a trophy and a certificate. Each of the 1st runners up took $ 1250, a trophy and a certificate. Each of the 2nd runners up took $ 1000, a trophy and a certificate. Each of the 3rd runners up took $750 and a certificate. Each of the 4th runners up took $500 and a certificate. Finally, 10 contestants were fortunate to win the lucky draw. The chief guest was presented a memento by Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, as a token of love and respect from the Bhavans fraternity. The vote of thanks was proposed by Mr. Sunil Menon, the coordinator of the event. With the rising caliber of students, the contestants expect a tighter race next year.
