Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students typically roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees. This activity takes place at MUN conferences, which is usually organized by a high school or college MUN club. At the end of most conferences, outstanding delegates in each committee are recognized and given an award certificate; the Best Delegate in each committee, however, receives a gavel. This involves substantial researching, public speaking, debating, and writing skills, as well as critical thinking, teamwork, and leadership abilities. Bhavans organized its fourth edition of Bhavans Model United Nations on November 9 and 10, 2017. The Chief Guest was Ms. Zineb Touimi Benjellum, the resident representative of Kuwait for the UN. Various important issues like financial crisis in cashless economies, global bank policies to avert recessions, the aggressive stance of North Korea, the humanitarian crisis of Rohingyas in Myanmar, climate change, and sustainable development were discussed and debated upon. The two-day Model United Nations was attended by 104 delegates of 5 committees. The best position paper, the best speaker, and the best delegate of each committee received accolades during the closing ceremony of BMUN. Bhavans Kuwait, the host school bagged the best delegation award.  The UN badges given by UNDP KUWAIT were conferred upon the core committee members of the BMUN by Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, the chairman, Bhavans Middle East.
