A workshop on ‘Inclusion- Challenges and Strategies was conducted by Dr. Benny Varghese M.A(Psy), MTLD, PhD, a Clinical Psychologist, Naturopatist and a CBSE Student Counselor at Indian School, Muscat. He started the session with a discussion on the significance of a teacher as a role-model to the students. The level of aspiration of the teachers was assessed by involving them in a Psychometric test. The audience were taken through the various problems faced by children viz. dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia, Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). They were also enlightened on the ways to identify them at the right time and use appropriate strategies to deal with them. Dr. Benny threw light on all major issues faced in the classroom and finally succeeded in driving home the point that a teacher should never underestimate the potential of any child and students should be accepted with all their strengths and limitations. The workshop was an eye-opener as it seemed to open new doorways to successfully tackle difficult situations in class.
