With the objective to promote healthy social, emotional, and behavioral development in Bhavanites, Indian Educational School observed its maiden ‘World Mental Health Day’ for a span of four days from 8th October to 12th October 2020 on Microsoft Teams Platform. The Psychology students of Grade 11 of Indian Education School Kuwait, under the guidance of the School Counselor Mrs. Anju Jacob conducted a host of events namely, PowerPoint presentations, poster making, speeches, slogan writing, quiz etc. to elucidate the importance of maintaining a balanced mental health. The need for a relaxed body and mind in this unprecedented COVID-19 time was duly addressed in the event. The Psychology students of IES were inspired to bring out their creative expression to gauge their awareness on mental health through a poster competition. Slogan writing competition was held with due emphasis on mental health and its impact on millions of people. The informative speeches and a short quiz on mental health made students aware of the basic facts pertaining to the concept of mental health. Mrs. Anju Jacob, the School Counselor, under the guidance of the Principal of Indian Educational School Mr. T. Premkumar & the Vice Principal of Primary Wing, Mrs. Lalitha Premkumar, attended two virtual sessions on Mental Health. This paved the way for the smooth conduct of the World Mental Health Week events in school. Bhavans believes that it is important to create mental health awareness and empower students in schools, since young people are seriously affected by mental health issues every day.
