In honour of the greatest dramatist and poet of English literature, William Shakespeare, and to encourage students to be voracious readers, Bhavanites observed the 25th anniversary of World Book Day in the school on April 24, 2022, under the aegis of the Department of English. The tiny tots narrated their own stories using the wordless storybooks provided. A few smart storytellers narrated their stories to the Chairman, Mr. NK Ramachandran Menon. The students of grades 1 and 2 dressed up as their favourite characters from Aesop’s Fables and Panchatantra respectively and spoke for a minute. The kids of grade 3 presented a puppet show of a story from the Jataka Tales. The students of grade 4 provided different endings to Grimm’s fairy tales. The students of grade 5 decorated their classroom bulletin boards with colourful bookmarks depicting the works of Roald Dahl. Grade 6 students adorned their classroom bulletin boards by designing cover pages of Mark Twain’s works. The students of grade 7 made the classroom bulletin boards lively with quotes from Charles Dickens’ works. Grade 8 and 9 students displayed their artistic skills by beautifying the classroom bulletin boards with the erudite contents of their favourite writers’ works. They presented dramatic monologues from various stories of Sherlock Holmes. The best bulletin board from each grade was announced to appreciate the skills of students The students who summarized the stories first in the class were honoured with the title ‘The Best Reader of the Day.’ The class library was inaugurated by Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal (Senior Wing) and Mr. Binoy Mathew, Vice Principal (Middle Wing). Mr. T Premkumar applauded the tremendous efforts of all the teachers in making the day joyful and colorful one for one and all.
