Bhavans Indian Education School held the first-ever hybrid sports meet on November 13, 2021 with the theme ‘Fitness for All’. The gracious presence of the Chief Guest, Mr. Shyam Sundar Boddeppalli, an alumnus of IES, a national level badminton player and a cyber-security analyst working with Sify Technologies, India, Mr. N.K. Ramachandran Menon, Chairman, Bhavans Middle East, Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, Indian Education School, the Vice Principals of IES and the members of senior leadership teams of other Bhavans schools in the Middle East, teachers, parents and students of IES made the day a magnificent one.
The sports meet was started at 9.a.m. with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran by Huzefa Muffaddal. The national flag of Kuwait was hoisted by Mr. T. Premkumar, Principal, IES, which was followed by the national anthem of Kuwait, prayer song and Bhavans anthem. Following the welcome address extended by Irene Susan Jose, Minister of Sports, Student Parliament, the torch relay was led by the Sports Ministers and the accomplished sportspersons of IES. Eliezer David Rebello and Irene Susan Jose, the Sport Ministers of IES, took their oath of allegiance with true sportsmanship The Chief Guest declared the hybrid sports meet open and shared his past experiences at IES. The Chairman appreciated the sense of competition instilled in the students He lauded the dedication of Dr. Murugaiyan Subbarayalu K. Samy, HoD, Department of Physical Education, and his team in making the sports day a memorable one.
Drill displays were exhibited by the champions of the Primary Wing. The viewers witnessed the participation of students from the Primary, Middle and Senior Wing in an array of sport events. The interesting agility events organized for the grandparents and the parents witnessed an impressive participation. Mr. T. Premkumar extolled the prize winners and declared the overall championship. Satya, Tapas and Seva won the first, the second and the third positions respectively.
Eliezer David Rebello proposed the vote of thanks. The event concluded with the singing of the national anthem of India. The Emcees of the day were Joel Dan Shibu, Neha Hareesh, Ryan John Samuel and Jiya Rajiv Vasant
