‘Managing Exam Anxiety’: A Webinar for the 10th and 12th Graders of IES
Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, virtually organized a session on ‘Managing Exam Anxiety’ on October 21, 2021, for the students of grades 10 and 12 at 10.30 a.m. and at 11.30 a.m. respectively to help the students clearly understand and successfully manage their exam stress . The resource person for the session was the Counsellor of the School, Ms. Preethi K. Nair, who has a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a postgraduate degree in Applied Psychology with a specialization in Clinical Psychology. She also has pursued a diploma in Child, Adolescent, and Family Counselling.
The resource person talked at length on exam anxiety, symptoms of anxiety, the factors causing exam anxiety, negative thinking, different learning styles, dealing with distractions and procrastination, the importance of staying focused, planning, microplanning, the importance of regular studies, positive visualization to reduce anxiety and boost performance, visualization strategies, shallow breathing, positive talk, physical health and emotional wellness, the importance of attempting practice tests before exams, time management, and taking help and support from teachers and parents. The resource person also shared the details of the CBSE career guidance portal with the audience.
The students were encouraged to share their experiences with the gathering and ask questions to the resource person who, in turn, answered their questions succinctly. The Senior Leadership Team of the school lauded the resource person and the teachers for the efforts they had put in to make the event fruitful.
