The Department of Science of Bhavans Indian Education School, Kuwait, arranged a virtual session in connection with ‘World No Tobacco Day’ with the theme, “Commit to Quit” to educate young Bhavanites about the deleterious effects of tobacco. Dr. Akhil Krishnakumar MBBS, a medical officer from India, addressed the students of grade 9. The enlightening session was held on Monday, 31 May 2021 at 9.00 a.m. on Zoom Platform.
The informative session commenced with a prayer song. Afrin Shabulus of 9E welcomed the gathering and Fida Ancy of 9B introduced the Chief Guest. The guest speaker, Dr. Akhil Krishnakumar addressed the students with an outstanding presentation on the noxious effects of tobacco. The resource person stated the negative concomitants of tobacco by saying how an activity, mostly started for fun, could spoil a person’s life. He made the students aware of the malignant diseases caused by tobacco.
An advertisement competition was held in connection with the same theme for the students of grades 9 to 11. An awareness message by the principal of the school, Mr. T. Premkumar, was also played in all classes from grade 9 to 12. Ms. Meenakshi Nayyar, Vice Principal, Middle Wing, in her closing thoughts, advised the students to follow the instructions given by the resource person, Dr. Akhil Krishnakumar. The session came to an end with a vote of thanks proposed by Roy Mathew of 9B.
